GuideJin ("we", "us", or "our") provides free guides that explain Japanese paperwork and official procedures for foreigners living in Japan. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile picture, which we use to create and maintain your GuideJin account.

If you use features that require an account, such as tracking your progress through a procedure checklist, we store that data against your account so it's there the next time you sign in.

We also collect basic, aggregated usage data (like which pages are viewed) to understand how the site is used and to keep it running well. This does not identify you individually.

How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account and keep you signed in
  • To save and display your progress through guides and checklists
  • To operate, maintain, and improve GuideJin
  • To respond to support requests and feedback you send us

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How We Share Your Information

We don't share your personal information with third parties, other than the trusted providers we use to run GuideJin (for sign-in, hosting, and analytics), each of which is bound to only use your data to provide that service to us. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GuideJin or our users.

Data Retention

We keep your account and progress data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, or ask us to, we remove your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we're required to keep it to comply with the law.

Your Rights and Choices

You can review or update your account information at any time while signed in. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, contact us at contact@guide-jin.com. You can also revoke GuideJin's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of GuideJin after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
