Issued by the Japan Pension Service (日本年金機構), these three documents together confirm your pension enrollment history and payment records.
When is it needed?
- Permanent residency application — used to verify continuous pension enrollment and payment compliance
- Highly Skilled Professional PR application
The Three Documents
Summarizes your full pension enrollment history — which pension scheme you were enrolled in and for how long.
Shows your month-by-month National Pension (国民年金) payment history, including paid, exempt, and deferred months.
Details any unpaid or partially exempted months — the key document to check for gaps before applying.
Where to Obtain
Online via Nenkin Net (ねんきんネット)
Log in to Nenkin Net (ねんきんネット) to view and print your pension records at home. All three documents can be viewed and downloaded as PDFs. There are two ways to register:
Option A — via My Number Portal (マイナポータル):
Link your My Number Card through My Number Portal for instant access — no waiting required
Option B — via User ID (ユーザID):
Register with your Basic Pension Number (基礎年金番号) and the access key printed on your annual Nenkin Teiki Bin (ねんきん定期便) notice — account is issued within a few days by post

Tips Before You Submit
If Payment II shows unpaid months, you may be able to pay retroactively (後払い) or apply for an exemption retroactively (後納・免除). Resolve these before applying for visa change
If you were enrolled through an employer (厚生年金), your contributions were deducted from your salary — your record should show continuous enrollment matching your work history
